In a statement, Frankfurt said the decision follows a “comprehensive sporting and structural analysis of the past few weeks” and took into account the team’s frustrating start to the calendar year, in which they have picked up only two points from three games against Borussia Dortmund (3-3), VfB Stuttgart (L3-2) and Bremen.
Toppmöller, 45, spent two and a half years at the Eintracht helm, overseeing 121 games and leading the Eagles into the UEFA Champions League via their league position for the first time.
